Week in Review

The students have been working hard and building stamina in "Reading to Self".  Our record time of reading without anyone getting up, talking, and/or not reading is 24 minutes!  That's absolutely awesome!  They're building their reading skills!  During this time, I've been meeting with individual students and checking on their reading level now, compared to where they were at the end of 1st grade.  Next week, I'll be checking in with students again before deciding on groups. We're hoping to start reading groups the week of Sept. 10th.

In math, the students are practicing counting forward and backward to 100.  They're also working on number patterns and skip-counting by 2's, 3's, 4's, 5's, and 10's to 100. Next week, they'll be learning about odd and even numbers and finding a pattern in a list of numbers.  We'll review on Thursday and the Chapter 2 Test will be on Friday, Sept. 7th.

In Social Studies, the students are learning about urban, suburban, and rural areas.  We're talking about how they are alike and different.

Have a great weekend!
